Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to eradicating tuberculosis, describing it as a preventable and curable disease that remains a significant public health issue, particularly in developing nations like Pakistan.

According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani highlighted in his message that tuberculosis impacts not only individuals but also imposes a heavy burden on families and healthcare systems. He emphasized the importance of enhancing public awareness, ensuring early diagnosis, and providing uninterrupted access to quality treatment for all patients.

Gilani also pointed out the necessity of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and investing in preventive measures as national priorities to effectively combat the disease. The Chairman Senate acknowledged the contributions of healthcare professionals, organizations, and frontline workers who are diligently working to control and eliminate tuberculosis, stating that their efforts are crucial in achieving a TB-free Pakistan.

He called upon all stakeholders, including government bodies, civil society, and citizens, to unite in the collective battle against tuberculosis and contribute towards building a healthier and more resilient nation.
