Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani visited the residence of Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Pir Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, to offer condolences on the demise of his mother. He expressed sorrow over the loss and extended sympathies to the family, praying for the departed soul. The visit was attended by Member of the Provincial Assembly Malik Muhammad Arshad and Zaki Chaudhry of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
According to Press Information Department, during the visit, Chairman Senate Gilani spoke to media representatives, emphasizing Pakistan’s stance as a responsible nuclear state. He noted that Pakistan has consistently acted with restraint and maturity, responding only in self-defense and in accordance with international laws. He commended the President, Prime Minister, and key stakeholders for managing regional challenges with wisdom and composure.
Gilani highlighted Pakistan’s policy of neutrality in regional matters, which has bolstered international confidence in the country. He mentioned that global powers, including the United States, have recognized Pakistan’s efforts in facilitating dialogue and de-escalation. He also acknowledged the support of countries like China in peace efforts between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
On domestic issues, Chairman Senate Gilani addressed the ongoing challenge of load-shedding, indicating that it would be a focus in upcoming parliamentary sessions. He reiterated the Pakistan Peoples Party’s role as a cooperative partner with the government, supporting positive policies while offering constructive criticism.
