Arusha: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, H.E. Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, engaged in a luncheon meeting with Dr. Tulia Ackson, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), on the sidelines of the 153rd IPU Assembly in Arusha, Tanzania.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting provided an opportunity for Chairman Gilani to congratulate Dr. Ackson on her tenure as the first African woman President of IPU, highlighting her efforts in enhancing the organization’s inclusivity and effectiveness. Gilani praised Ackson’s leadership and expressed his intention to continue working together to strengthen parliamentary cooperation.
Chairman Gilani also extended gratitude to Dr. Ackson, the Tanzanian government, and its people for their hospitality during the assembly. An invitation was extended to Dr. Ackson to visit Pakistan, which she accepted. Chairman Gilani is leading a cross-party delegation from Pakistan to the assembly, which runs from October 5 to 9 at the Arusha International Conference Centre.
