Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani and Senators exchanging Views with Mr. Fawzi Al-Taher Al-Nuwairi, First Deputy Speaker of the Libyan House of Representative at Parliament House Islamabad 

Islamabad, December 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Parliamentary delegation of Libya, led by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Libya, Mr Fawzi Al Taher Al Nuwairi met with the Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani here at Parliament House on Wednesday. During the meeting, bilateral cooperation including issues of mutual interest, and expediting the exchange of delegations at the parliamentary and commercial levels were discussed in detail.

During the meeting, Chairman Senate underlined that the people of Libya are big-hearted, adding that the Pakistani nation is waiting for the visit of the President of Libya to Pakistan. “Agreement between Pakistan and Libya regarding visa-free travel on official and diplomatic passports should be implemented so that the people of both countries can benefit from it”, Sanjrani stressed. He said that there is no shortage of manpower in Pakistan and that Libya should take advantage of it.

Chairman Senate stated that cooperation between the two countries can be further strengthened at the economic, trade, educational and defence levels. There are vast opportunities for investment in Pakistan and the brotherly country should make full use of it, he added.

Deputy Speaker, House of the Representatives Libya, Fawzi Al-Taher Al Nuwairi extended the invitation to the Chairman Senate to visit Libya. He observed that both Libya and Pakistan are rich in natural resources and the needs of both countries can be met by better utilization of natural resources.

Chairman Senate underlined that the exchange of high-level delegations will expand the scope of cooperation between the two countries and hoped that the visit will prove to be an important precursor in promoting contacts at the public level. He said that better economic ties between Pakistan and Libya will further boost bilateral cooperation.

Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani remarked that Pakistan is trying to further strengthen linkages with African Nations and that Pakistan is driven by the “Look Africa” policy to further cement bilateral relations with African countries.

Deputy Speaker, Fawzi Al Taher Al Nuwairi while agreeing with the views of the Chairman Senate said that Libya would take advantage of the investment opportunities in Pakistan. He said that Libya attaches great importance to its long-standing brotherly relations with Pakistan.

MOUs in various areas were also signed between the two sides. The Deputy Speaker of the Libyan Parliament also recorded his remarks in the Guest book. Later, the Libyan Parliamentary delegation also held a meeting with the Senate Standing Committee on Commerce at the Parliament House followed by a meeting with Secretary Senate Muhammad Qasim Samad Khan.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to form a coordination committee on both sides in order to fix modalities, ensure the implementation of MOUs signed in different areas and further cement Parliamentary relations between the two brotherly countries. The delegation also visited the Senate Museum and Senate hall.

A 12-member parliamentary delegation also visited the Pakistan Institution of Parliamentary Services (PIPS). The parliamentary delegation was briefed about the aims and objectives of PIPS and the services provided by the institute to parliamentarians and government officials.
