Rawalpindi: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, addressed a gathering at the annual Urs ceremony at Eidgah Sharif, highlighting the spiritual institution’s role in promoting Islamic teachings and societal reform. According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani emphasized the importance of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) and the teachings of Awliya-e-Kiram as a framework for addressing both national and global challenges.

In his address, Gilani stated that Eidgah Sharif, with its historical significance, has been serving Islam and humanity for nearly one and a half centuries. He paid tribute to the spiritual leaders associated with Eidgah Sharif, including its founder Sheikh-ul-Mashaikh Khawaja Khawajgan Hazrat Khawaja Hafiz Abdul Karim (RA) and his successors. Gilani acknowledged the global influence of Eidgah Sharif’s spiritual leaders, who continue to spread Islamic teachings across countries including the United Kingdom, United States, and Gulf nations.

Highlighting the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Gilani noted their universal relevance and application in promoting compassion, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. He described the Constitution of the State of Madinah as a model of justice and equality, advocating for its principles as a solution to Pakistan’s socioeconomic challenges.

Gilani addressed the prevailing global issues, such as wars and climate-related challenges, suggesting that Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) offers a roadmap for sustainable peace and harmony. He emphasized the role of Pakistan as a land of Awliya-e-Kiram and the need to instill values of tolerance and respect among the youth to build a progressive nation.

Urging participants to embody the teachings of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) in their lives, Gilani concluded with a prayer for guidance and the building of a just and compassionate society.
