Chairman Senate Gilani Congratulates Nation on Pakistan Day, Emphasizes Historical Significance


Islamabad: Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, extended congratulations to the nation on Pakistan Day, highlighting the historical importance of March 23 as a milestone in Pakistan’s history and a reminder of the sacrifices made for independence.



According to Senate of Pakistan, in his message, Gilani emphasized the significance of the 1940 resolution, which guided the Muslims of the subcontinent towards the creation of an independent Pakistan. He called for a renewed commitment to the nation’s progress and stability. Gilani praised Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders for their vision and leadership that led to the country’s creation.



Gilani noted the collective struggle and sacrifices under the Two-Nation Theory that resulted in a separate homeland for Muslims. He acknowledged the role of Pakistan Peoples Party’s leadership in strengthening national defense, including the foundation of the nuclear program under Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and security measures by Benazir Bhutto.



Paying tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces, Gilani commended their professionalism and sacrifices in defending the nation. He reaffirmed the nation’s support for the military and emphasized unity, constitutional supremacy, and democratic values as vital for the country’s stability. Concluding his message, he prayed for the nation’s prosperity and strength to build a united and strong state.
