Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the recent unprovoked aggression and firing by Afghan forces on Pakistan’s border areas, calling it a violation of international law and fundamental human rights.
In a statement, Gilani criticized the firing on civilian populations and the breach of Pakistan’s territorial integrity, stressing that it threatens regional peace and stability. He highlighted Pakistan’s consistent policy of peace, mutual respect, and support for a stable Afghanistan.
Gilani praised Pakistan’s Armed Forces for their effective response to the aggression. He stated the nation stands united behind its armed forces, which are prepared to defend the country under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Reiterating Pakistan’s sovereignty, Gilani warned against mistaking Pakistan’s patience for weakness. He emphasized that border violations will not be tolerated and will be met with a decisive response.
Gilani noted Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to peace, citing its hosting of Afghan refugees as a gesture of goodwill. However, he expressed concern over the use of Afghan soil for hostile activities against Pakistan, urging action from Afghan authorities and the international community.
He stressed that regional peace and prosperity rely on mutual respect and diplomatic cooperation. Gilani affirmed Pakistan’s resolve to protect its borders and citizens.
“Pakistan’s Armed Forces are the nation’s shield,” Gilani concluded, emphasizing the nation’s pride and steadfastness in ensuring security and dignity.
