CHAIRMAN SENATE, CANADIAN HC ADDRESS BILATERAL TIES AND INTERNATIONAL ISSUES

Islamabad, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani and the Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Leslie Scanlon, engaged in a detailed dialogue in Islamabad today, where they broached multiple facets of international relations, with a notable emphasis on strengthening bilateral ties.

According to a news release by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during their meeting, Chairman Sanjrani urged the global community to take definitive steps in implementing United Nations resolutions, particularly concerning Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank. He specifically called on developed nations to safeguard human rights in both Palestine and Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the pivotal role of the United Nations in resolving these issues.

The meeting also encompassed discussions about strengthening bilateral relations between Canada and Pakistan, especially in economic and social realms. Both dignitaries delved into topics of mutual interest, including the evolving situation in the Middle East.

Sanjrani highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its relationship with Canada and focused on the potential for increased trade and collaboration between business communities. He also spotlighted investment opportunities within Pakistan, especially in the Balochistan region, and acknowledged the employment potential stemming from Canadian company Barrick Gold’s investments in Chagai.

High Commissioner Scanlon, on her part, emphasized the urgent need to address the Palestinian situation. She recognized Pakistan’s significant contributions in counter-terrorism and expressed support for further investment collaborations within Pakistan.
