Islamabad, June 29, 2022 (PPI-OT): The Chairman, One – Man Commission, Dr. Muhammad Shoaib Suddle, held a meeting with Mr. Amer Ahmed Ali, Chief Commissioner, Islamabad, and Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, IGP, Islamabad to review the progress of implementation of Hon’ble Supreme Court’s directions given in Suo – Moto Case No. 1 of 2014, particularly the directions in relation to promoting interfaith harmony, effective protection of places of worship of minorities and filling up of 5 % minority quota in ICT.
The One – Man Commission was informed that the issue of sanctioning of additional police strength for Special Police Unit (SPU) required to provide effective security to the worship places of minorities in Islamabad was held up with the Establishment Division.
The Commission asked the IGP, Islamabad to take up the matter personally with the dealing hand in Establishment Division. The issue of Hostel facility for minorities in Islamabad also came under discussion. It was agreed that tangible progress would be made in one month time. If needed the concerned officials of Establishment Division and the Ministry of Interior would also be asked to join the meeting to be held on 29 July 2022.
