Islamabad: Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, has underscored the necessity of fostering a collaborative approach to tackle challenges in the higher education sector. Dr. Akhtar’s remarks came during a meeting with Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Chairperson of the Punjab Higher Education Commission, Dr. S. M. Tariq Rafi, Chairperson of the Sindh Higher Education Commission, and representatives from the Higher Education Departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Members of the Quality Assurance and Research and Innovation Divisions, along with an Advisor for Research and Innovation at HEC, were also present.

According to the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar highlighted the significance of enhanced coordination among stakeholders to achieve the shared goal of advancing the higher education sector. He called for improved communication channels and regular consultations on sector-related matters. Dr. Akhtar noted the increasing relevance of Artificial Intelligence in the context of emerging technologies and stressed the necessity for its effective integration into higher education. This integration, he argued, is vital for equipping institutions and graduates to face future challenges and opportunities.

The meeting participants discussed strategies for greater collaboration and a coordinated approach to overcoming sector challenges. They agreed to maintain regular engagements and work towards building consensus on policies and initiatives to strengthen higher education in Pakistan.
