Islamabad: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, attended the annual Urs Mubarak ceremony in Jhelum, emphasizing the importance of global peace and Pakistan’s role in reducing international tensions.
According to Press Information Department, the event was held under the patronage of Sajjada Nasheen Pir Syed Ameer Hamza Kirmani and attracted religious scholars, spiritual leaders, political figures, and numerous devotees. During his address, Chairman Senate highlighted the contributions of revered saints to peace and coexistence, stressing that Islam advocates for peace, compassion, and harmony. He rejected attempts to associate Islam with extremism, emphasizing the peaceful nature of the majority of Muslims worldwide.
Chairman Senate expressed concerns over rising global tensions and underscored the need for dialogue and diplomacy to ensure international stability. He praised Pakistan’s political and military leadership for their efforts in promoting peace and preventing conflict escalation. Notably, he welcomed dialogue between the United States and Iran, expressing hope for positive outcomes.
He acknowledged the economic pressures on developing countries due to geopolitical instability and affirmed the Pakistan Peoples Party’s commitment to public welfare and economic relief. He mentioned plans to propose recommendations in the upcoming budget aimed at providing economic relief and strengthening resilience.
Chairman Senate also highlighted the importance of promoting the teachings of spiritual elders to foster moderation and tolerance in society. The ceremony concluded with prayers for peace and prosperity in Pakistan and globally.
