Chairman CDA Holds Meeting to Improve Roads Infrastructure 

Islamabad, November 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Capital Development Authority Captain (Retd) Muhammad Usman Yunus chaired a meeting on Monday regarding the further improvement of road infrastructure in the city of Islamabad. An important meeting was held. Officers of the relevant departments were also present on this occasion.

On this occasion, Chairman CDA issued instructions to the officers of the relevant departments and said that such footpaths which are dilapidated should be repaired as soon as possible and made functional for the public. Similarly, where there is a need to build new footpaths, new footpaths should also be constructed so that all possible facilities can be provided to the citizens.

According to the details, the total length of the footpaths in the city of Islamabad is 5630 km as planned, which are in different centers of Islamabad, class three shopping centers, Seventh Avenue, Faisal Avenue, Ninth Avenue, Shahrah Dastur, Ataturk Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, and Khayaban.

Iqbal, the city’s major roads, service roads and various streets were to be planned, of which the total length of existing footpaths is 5247 km. Of these, 4400 km of footpaths are in good condition while 847.13 km of footpaths are to be rehabilitated and repaired. Similarly, another 383.10 km of new footpaths are to be constructed.

Similarly, the construction of these footpaths will not only promote the walking culture in the city but will also significantly reduce the carbon and footprint. Further, the Chairman CDA issued further instructions and asked the concerned departments to color-coded speed and traffic signs on the curb stones of different highways of Islamabad city to help keep the traffic flowing.

He further said that the existing two colours should be used for colour coding of curb stones. Similarly, where the length of the road is longer, yellow and black colours should be used, and where the length of the road is less, only yellow colour should be used.

It should be noted that the colour coding of curb stones will help in determining the driving speed on every road of Islamabad city. In this regard, a comprehensive plan has also been submitted to Chairman CDA for approval by the concerned departments.

On this occasion, Chairman CDA issued instructions and asked the Director Traffic Engineer to prepare the entire plan according to international standards and submit the plan again for approval. Chairman Capital Development Authority Captain (retired) Muhammad Usman Yunus further said that these measures will not only save fuel and time of the citizens but also help in controlling environmental pollution.
