CDWP Approves Key Development and PPP Initiative in Islamabad

Islamabad, The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has endorsed a pivotal project for establishing the National Forensic Science Agency in Islamabad, along with green-lighting a concept for a substantial public-private partnership program aimed at bolstering infrastructure financing.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting, led by Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, saw the approval of the “Establishment of National Forensic Science Agency at Islamabad (5th revised PC-1)” with a budget of Rs. 1,831.114 million. Initially proposed in 2002 to set up forensic laboratories across Pakistan, the revised plan now focuses on developing a primary facility in Islamabad to enhance forensic science capabilities.

Additionally, the CDWP approved the concept clearance for the “Promoting Sustainable Public Private Partnership Program,” targeting an injection of US $500 million into the country’s infrastructure through partnerships in sectors like roads, healthcare, and education. The first phase of this program, valued at US $250 million, is set to initiate reforms and capacity building to foster long-term sustainability in line with Pakistan’s Vision 2025.

The CDWP also discussed a proposal from the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training for a Danish School at Kuri Road, Islamabad, advising further feasibility study and cost rationalization.
