CDS Anil Chauhan Identifies China’s Rise, Border Issues as India’s Prime Challenges


Pune, In a recent address, India’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, highlighted the twin challenges posed by China’s ascendancy and unresolved border issues, terming them as the most significant concerns for India’s defense strategy in the coming years.



According to Kashmir Media Service, during the 3rd Strategic and Security Dialogue, General Chauhan elaborated on the complexities of India’s territorial disputes, particularly emphasizing the nuanced dynamics at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. He pointed out the necessity of adept management in the face of these disputes, advocating for a strategic and judicious approach in interactions with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).



General Chauhan underscored the criticality of maintaining India’s territorial stances and responding with calculated determination to any provocations from the PLA. He also addressed the broader implications of China’s rise, suggesting that it not only challenges India but also reshapes global geopolitical equations, necessitating partnerships with like-minded nations to foster global stability.



Additionally, the CDS highlighted the risk of a growing technological divide between India and its potential adversaries, emphasizing the imperative for India to bridge this gap to safeguard its national security interests.
