CDA Chairman Reviews Progress on Key Structures of Islamabad Expressway

Islamabad: Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Muhammad Ali Randhawa, conducted a thorough inspection of the Islamabad Expressway project early Saturday morning. The visit focused on the ongoing construction of the Korang, Railway, and Bhinder Bridges, as well as the development of new Bus Bays along the expressway.

According to Capital Development Authority, during his tour, Chairman Randhawa was accompanied by Dr. Hafiz, Member Engineering, and other officials. The team also stopped at the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) Camp Office, where officials briefed the Chairman on the current status and challenges of the project. The briefing included an assurance that the expressway would be completed by September 30, despite delays caused by the recent monsoon rains. It was noted that over 98% of the project work had been finished, including the full opening of the Kak Bridge to traffic and the completion of structural works on other bridges. The focus now remains on the rapid completion of retention works and bridge approaches.

During his visit, Chairman Randhawa emphasized the importance of concurrent horticultural work along the expressway and stressed the need for adopting the best operational and maintenance models to ensure the future upkeep of the infrastructure. His visit concluded with a review of the ongoing carpeting and structural work on Park Road, where he directed that efforts be intensified to expedite completion.

The completion of the Islamabad Expressway project is expected to significantly enhance traffic flow within the city, improving connectivity and reducing travel times for commuters.
