CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa Spearheads Major Beautification and Plantation Drive in Islamabad

Islamabad: In a significant push towards environmental enhancement and urban beautification, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), chaired a meeting on Friday to evaluate the progress and expand the ongoing tree plantation and beautification initiatives across Islamabad.

According to Capital Development Authority, the meeting reviewed various facets of the initiatives aimed at transforming Islamabad into a greener and more visually appealing city. As part of these efforts, the CDA has launched a comprehensive campaign distributing free saplings at various centers, markets, and parks, and has initiated door-to-door plant distribution to involve more residents in the drive. Randhawa emphasized the critical role of the business community and civil society in amplifying the impact of these environmental efforts.

The city has been segmented into four zones, each under the care of designated officers and staff who will oversee landscaping and beautification tasks. The strategy involves collaboration with renowned architects and landscape experts to enhance the aesthetic appeal of major city landmarks, including interchanges, flyovers, and highways. The planting of fruit trees along medians and green belts is also planned, drawing on successful horticulture practices from other cities. Additionally, significant enhancements in lighting along flyovers and bridges are slated to improve safety and visual appeal.

With these ambitious plans, Islamabad is set to become a leading example of how cities can integrate sustainability and beauty in urban planning.
