CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa Pledges to Escalate Anti-Encroachment Efforts in Islamabad

Islamabad: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Monday committed to an aggressive enhancement of the anti-encroachment campaign throughout Islamabad. The decision follows a meeting that emphasized ramping up measures to preserve public spaces and enforce legal provisions against illegal constructions. The campaign will notably target unauthorized structures and activities in Zone 3 and Margalla Hills, with plans to initiate legal actions against persistent violators.

According to Capital Development Authority, the meeting under Chairman Randhawa’s leadership outlined multiple strategic initiatives to tackle encroachments. This includes halting unapproved construction in Zone 3 and commercial activities in the Margalla Hills, with a specific focus on protecting the natural environment around Rawal Dam. Efforts will also extend to the arrest of individuals who defy orders to vacate encroached lands and the implementation of Section 144 to stop all construction in critical areas. The combined efforts of the assistant commissioners, enforcement, environment, and building control departments aim to ensure the operation’s success.

Chairman Randhawa also ordered the fencing of areas cleared of encroachments to prevent re-encroachment and stressed continuous surveillance to maintain these zones. This renewed drive underscores CDA’s commitment to maintaining the rule of law and safeguarding the urban landscape of Islamabad from further illegal developments.
