Dispur: Following intense rainfall, a severe flood has swept through Assam, affecting more than 600,000 residents across 19 districts and resulting in 45 fatalities due to related incidents.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority reported that multiple rivers, including the Brahmaputra, have surged past danger levels, with significant overflows at various points such as Nematighat in Jorhat district. Rescue operations are underway, involving teams from the NDRF, SDRF, Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and local administrative bodies, as more rain is forecasted, threatening to exacerbate the already dire situation.
