Caretaker Sindh CM Supports Construction of Charitable Health Facility through Fundraiser

Karachi, In a significant move to support healthcare in Karachi, Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqar will attend a fundraiser on December 17 to gather support for the construction of a new state-of-the-art charitable health facility in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The facility, once completed, is expected to treat up to one million deserving patients annually.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the University Medical Complex (UMC), which had its groundbreaking ceremony last December, is a collaborative effort of the non-profit Medics International (MI), Baqir Health and Educational Welfare Trust, and Zaidi Abid Foundation USA. The UMC is being developed as a modern tertiary care teaching hospital that will offer specialized healthcare services in various medical fields.

The 500-bed healthcare facility aims to allocate up to 20% of its budget to provide free modern treatment and hospitalization to patients from underprivileged communities. It is designed to operate 24/7, with emergency treatment facilities for both adult and pediatric patients, and will also offer specialized care for cancer patients.

Famous TV and theatre personality Khalid Anum will host the fundraiser event. MI Pakistan CEO, Dr. Dilbar Saeed, has made an appeal to philanthropists for their support in the speedy completion of the UMC. This facility is expected to provide advanced medical treatment to underprivileged patients not only from Sindh but also from the adjoining areas of Balochistan, without any discrimination.

The involvement of the Caretaker Chief Minister in this fundraiser underscores the government’s commitment to improving healthcare facilities and making modern treatment accessible to all, especially the deserving and deprived segments of society.
