Caretaker Railways Minister Directs Modernization of Railway Hospitals

Lahore, Caretaker Minister for Railways Shahid Ashraf Tarar has ordered comprehensive modernization efforts for Railways hospitals nationwide. These directives were issued during a high-level meeting held at the Railways Headquarters in Lahore, focusing on improving healthcare facilities provided by the Railways.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting produced several significant decisions aimed at enhancing the services of the Railways’ medical facilities. One key resolution was the opening of all Railways hospitals to the general public starting from next month, a move expected to expand healthcare access to more citizens.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the issue of electricity provision in Railways colonies, deciding to transfer all electricity meters to distribution companies. This step is anticipated to streamline electricity management and ensure more reliable power supply to these areas.

Further emphasizing the need for efficiency, Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar instructed officials to implement the Fuel Management System within two weeks. This system aims to optimize fuel usage, reflecting a push towards more efficient and sustainable operations within the Railways sector.

In a significant move towards digitization, the meeting also resolved to digitize the entire record of railway engines within a span of two months. This digital transition is expected to enhance the management and maintenance of railway engines, contributing to improved operational efficiency.

These decisions signify a robust effort by the caretaker minister to modernize the Railways’ infrastructure and services.
