Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan and Kenyan President Discuss Bilateral Cooperation in Beijing

Islamabad, 17 Oct 2023:During the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, China, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar of Pakistan and President Dr. William Ruto of Kenya met to explore avenues of bilateral cooperation. The leaders reaffirmed their intent to strengthen ties, notably in trade, investment, education, and enhancing people-to-people contacts.

According to the Press Information Department, the discussions highlighted the significance of economic collaboration. Both leaders agreed on the need to deepen their engagement to maximize the benefits of bilateral trade. Prime Minister Kakar mentioned Pakistan’s eagerness to collaborate more closely with Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) member countries, including Kenya, to develop new projects. Dr. William Ruto expressed Kenya’s interest in leveraging Pakistan’s expertise, especially in fields like agriculture and healthcare. The press release was provided by Press Information Department.

Additionally, Prime Minister Kakar sought the Kenyan President’s assistance in finalizing the report of the Special Joint Investigation Team regarding the murder of Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif. In a gesture of continued friendship, both leaders extended invitations to visit each other’s countries. They agreed to set the dates for these visits via diplomatic channels.
