Karachi, In a significant move to promote cultural diversity, Caretaker Prime Minister AnwaarulHaq Kakar has inaugurated Pakistan Television’s (PTV) Hazaragi transmission in Quetta, marking a milestone in the representation of Balochistan’s linguistic and cultural heritage.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister, speaking at the launch ceremony, emphasized his government’s commitment to fostering the languages, arts, and artisans of Balochistan. He highlighted the province’s rich history, culture, and civilization, beyond its known natural resources like natural gas and minerals. The Prime Minister particularly noted the significance of the Mehar Garh civilization, known for its advanced agriculture and dentistry in ancient times.
This new initiative brings the Hazaragi language and the Hazara community into the national spotlight, with PTV Bolan’s Hazaragi transmission being a step towards recognizing and celebrating the linguistic diversity of Balochistan. The Prime Minister affirmed that the development of media channels, including television and radio in Balochistan, is a priority for his government, with plans to provide necessary support.
AnwaarulHaq Kakar stressed the importance of media as a powerful tool for showcasing Pakistan’s linguistic, cultural, and social diversity. He underscored the need for national pride and unity to combat challenges like terrorism. The interim government, he said, is committed to supporting PTV and other national channels in these endeavors.
The Prime Minister remarked on the significance of Pakistan’s federal structure, which derives strength from its cultural and linguistic diversity. He acknowledged the various languages spoken in Balochistan, including Hazargi, and expressed joy over the launch of PTV’s first Hazargi program.
The event also recognized the contributions and sacrifices of the Hazara community, with the “Waday Hazargi” event being dedicated to the martyrs of the community. The Information and Broadcasting Caretaker Minister Murtaza Solangi, who also spoke at the event, highlighted the importance of the Hazargi transmission in giving due representation to the Hazara community and noted PTV’s commitment to budget and resources for this initiative.
The Hazaragi transmission launch is seen as a step towards acknowledging the longstanding demands of the Hazara community and enhancing the representation of diverse cultural groups in national media.
