Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar Commits to Full-Scale Continuation of Anti-Polio Campaign

Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has reaffirmed the government’s unwavering dedication to continue the anti-polio campaign until the complete eradication of the poliovirus from the country. This announcement follows a recent terrorist attack against police personnel tasked with protecting a polio vaccination team in Bajaur. In his statement, the Prime Minister condemned the attack, offered prayers for the deceased officers, and conveyed his condolences to their families. Additionally, he instructed that all possible medical assistance be provided to those injured in the incident.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Kakar praised the resilience and commitment of both the polio workers and the security personnel, acknowledging their essential role in the nation’s fight against polio. He expressed confidence that the nefarious designs of terrorists would not hinder the progress of the anti-polio campaign. In an effort to counteract any negative propaganda about polio vaccination, he highlighted the endorsement of the program by scholars from leading Muslim institutions, including Al-Azhar University in Egypt, demonstrating broad religious and community support for the initiative.
