Dubai, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has arrived at Dubai Expo City to take part in the high-level segment of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP 28) of the United Nations. His participation marks Pakistan’s engagement in critical global climate discussions.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Kakar was received by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations. The Prime Minister’s schedule includes attending the opening session of the World Climate Action Summit, a key event of COP28.
The conference provides a platform for high-level bilateral meetings, and Prime Minister Kakar is expected to meet with the Prime Ministers of the Netherlands and Estonia on the sidelines of the conference. Additionally, he will be participating in the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Award ceremony.
Joining Prime Minister Kakar at COP28 are several members of the caretaker government, including Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Caretaker Federal Minister for Climate Change Ahmed Irfan Aslam, and Caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali. Their presence highlights the comprehensive approach Pakistan is taking towards global climate change discussions and initiatives.
