Islamabad, 16 Oct 2023: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has fervently advocated for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, simultaneously urging the lifting of the ongoing blockade. Through a tweet, he echoed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people, who have been facing pressing challenges.

Highlighting his grave concerns regarding the escalating violence and subsequent civilian casualties in Gaza, Prime Minister Kakar pointed out that Israel’s actions, characterized by the intentional targeting of non-combatants, starkly contravene international law standards.

Furthermore, PM Kakar attributed the recent upsurge in hostilities to the extended illegal occupation of Palestinian territories and the ensuing suppressive measures directed at its inhabitants.

With an emphasis on the pressing need for humanitarian intervention, Kakar called upon the United Nations and the broader international community to expediently establish unhindered humanitarian pathways. Such channels would facilitate the swift delivery of critical relief supplies to the encircled region of Gaza.

On the diplomatic front, he shared that Pakistan is actively collaborating with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its member nations to address the rapidly worsening situation in Gaza. Furthermore, he announced Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani’s scheduled attendance at the OIC’s Executive Committee Emergency Meeting this Wednesday, where he is set to champion urgent measures to assuage the plight of the Gaza populace.
