Islamabad, In a recent meeting with a delegation from Uzbekistan, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized the importance of simplified visa procedures, improved banking channels, and reciprocal warehousing facilities in enhancing trade between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister expressed these views while conversing with the seven-member Uzbek delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Jamshid Khodjaev Abdukhakomovich. The meeting, held in Islamabad, focused on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in trade, defense, and connectivity.
Prime Minister Kakar expressed satisfaction with the current pace of bilateral engagements between the two nations, notably in trade and defense sectors. He also commended the successful organization of the First Trilateral Meeting of Commerce Ministers from Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan, highlighting its significance in regional cooperation.
The Prime Minister was optimistic about achieving the bilateral trade target of one billion dollars in a short period, given the conducive business environment between the two countries. He recognized the potential and readiness of the business communities in both countries to reach this ambitious goal.
Additionally, Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Khodjaev, during the meeting, conveyed his hope for continued active engagement between the two sides. He particularly mentioned the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway Project, stressing the importance of its timely completion for enhancing regional connectivity and trade.
This meeting underscores the commitment of both Pakistan and Uzbekistan to deepen their economic ties and work collaboratively towards shared regional prosperity.
