Caretaker PM Kakar to Represent Pakistan at COP28 in Dubai

Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar is set to lead the Pakistani delegation at the high-level segment of the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28) in Dubai on Friday. The Prime Minister’s participation in this significant global event underscores Pakistan’s commitment to addressing climate change issues.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Kakar will attend the World Climate Action Summit on Friday and Saturday. During the summit, he is scheduled to deliver a national statement on Saturday, reflecting Pakistan’s stance and initiatives in the fight against climate change. This appearance at the World Climate Action Summit provides a crucial platform for Pakistan to voice its perspectives and concerns on global climate policies.

The Prime Minister’s agenda also includes meetings with various world leaders on the sidelines of the conference, offering opportunities for bilateral discussions and collaboration on environmental issues. Such interactions are pivotal for fostering international cooperation and shared strategies in response to climate challenges.

Joining Prime Minister Kakar at COP28 are several key members of the caretaker government, including Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Caretaker Federal Minister for Climate Change Ahmed Irfan Aslam, and Caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali. Their presence indicates the comprehensive approach Pakistan is taking towards climate change, involving multiple facets of governance and policy.
