Caretaker PM Kakar Praises Peaceful Election Conduct in Pakistan

Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar lauded the peaceful execution of recent elections across Pakistan, acknowledging the pivotal role of law enforcement agencies and the democratic spirit of the Pakistani populace. In a news conference held in Islamabad, Kakar expressed his hopes for a smooth transition to the newly elected government, emphasizing the significance of addressing the country’s economic and security challenges.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Kakar commended the citizens for their enthusiastic participation in the electoral process, demonstrating a robust commitment to democracy. He highlighted the efficiency of the polling tabulation process, which concluded within 36 hours compared to 66 hours in the previous general elections, dismissing any allegations of deliberate delays in election results.

The Prime Minister pointed out the extensive deployment of military personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which he attributed to the successful outcome for PTI-backed independent candidates, underscoring the fairness and competitiveness of the electoral process. He stressed that the substantial number of polling stations across the country, approximately 92,000, necessitated time for vote counting, urging the public not to misconstrue delays as evidence of electoral malfeasance.

Addressing concerns over election result delays and potential irregularities, Kakar assured that proper forums were in place to address any grievances, reinforcing the integrity of the electoral process. He also called upon the incoming elected government to prioritize political reconciliation and consensus-driven legislation to strengthen the democratic framework of the nation.

In response to inquiries about post-election protests, Kakar affirmed the right to peaceful assembly but warned against the escalation to violence, emphasizing the importance of maintaining order and respect for democratic principles.
