Caretaker PM Kakar Focuses on Boosting Foreign Investment in Pakistan’s IT Sector

Islamabad, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has announced the government’s initiatives to escalate foreign investment in Pakistan’s burgeoning Information Technology sector. This announcement came during a meeting in Islamabad today, where the Prime Minister emphasized the need for comprehensive policies to attract global IT expertise for the sector’s development and promotion in Pakistan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting focused on reviewing the progress of Special Technology Zones in the country. Prime Minister Kakar highlighted the pivotal role the IT sector can play in Pakistan’s economy, noting the country’s significant potential for growth in this field.

Key outcomes of the meeting included the approval of the restructuring of the Budget and Finance, Audit, and Technical Committees of the Board of Governors of the Special Technology Zones Authority. Additionally, the meeting endorsed drafts of the Authority’s Licensing Framework, Authority Procedures, and Fee Regulations to be reviewed by the Technical Committee.

These steps are part of the government’s broader strategy to enhance Pakistan’s IT sector, positioning it as a key player in the global technology landscape and stimulating economic growth through increased foreign investment.
