Islamabad, September 07, 2023 (PPI-OT): Caretaker Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Sami Saeed presided over the detailed review meeting regarding the 4RF framework, members of the Planning Commission, relevant officers of the Ministry of Planning and NDRM officials participated in the meeting. . In the meeting, the authorities gave a detailed briefing to the Federal Minister of Planning on the damages, relief and restoration works caused by floods across the country.
Officials of the Ministry of Planning said that a rehabilitation and reconstruction unit was established in the Ministry of Planning for the rehabilitation of the affected people and areas so that the damage caused by the flood can be accurately estimated. He told the meeting that due to the natural calamity flood on October 28, 2022, Pakistan had lost about 30 billion dollars. 24.99% of agricultural land was damaged due to flood. .
In the briefing, it was further informed that obtaining correct information regarding the affected provinces and individuals is a major challenge, it is difficult to get data from the provinces. He added that the work on the dashboard system in the Ministry of Planning is ongoing to bring transparency in the recovery process and the release and remittance of aid funds. Will be able to see through the system.
Caretaker Planning Minister Sami Saeed said that Pakistan has faced many trials and tribulations due to environmental change and may face such a situation in the future. The caretaker minister said that development projects will be continued, especially projects that are directly related to the welfare of the people, cannot be compromised.
He asked that 50 percent of the money from his budget should be spent on projects where donors have either invested less, or not at all. The caretaker minister gave special instructions to continue the social sector on a priority basis regarding rehabilitation.
