Caretaker Information Minister Solangi Advocates for Timely Elections at Think Fest 2024 in Lahore


Lahore, Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi emphasized the importance of holding general elections on the scheduled date of February 8 for the benefit of the country and its political parties. This statement was made during his speech at the seventh edition of Think Fest 2024 in Lahore today.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Solangi highlighted the constitutional mandate for Pakistan to be governed by elected representatives, as stated in the preamble of the Constitution. He argued that conducting the elections as planned would be beneficial for the nation.



Solangi pointed out the current challenges faced by the working class in Pakistan, noting that they do not have a level playing field in the political arena. He stressed the need for a fundamental change in the system to enable the common man to contest elections, thereby ensuring fairness and equal opportunity for all.



Furthermore, the minister emphasized the role of political parties in enhancing democratic processes. He called for every political party to grant their members the right to vote in the election of their office-bearers, underlining this as a critical step towards strengthening internal party democracy.
