Islamabad, Murtaza Solangi the Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, has confidently stated that the interim government has successfully managed to conduct peaceful and transparent general elections across the country. This achievement underscores the caretaker government’s commitment to facilitating a democratic process in Pakistan.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a discussion on a private TV channel, Solangi highlighted the efforts made by the caretaker administration to provide full support and cooperation to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the smooth execution of the electoral process. He pointed out that the election results attest to the fairness and transparency of the elections, addressing concerns raised about the integrity of the process.
Addressing issues related to the disruption of mobile services on Election Day, Solangi relayed the Ministry of Interior’s explanation that prompt actions were taken to resolve the situation, emphasizing the government’s priority to ensure the safety and security of citizens, polling staff, and stations throughout the election period. This included measures to facilitate the safe transportation of citizens and uphold security during the electoral process.
Solangi also touched upon historical challenges and disputes associated with elections, noting that such conflicts are not uncommon, referencing the elections of 2018 and 2013 as examples. Despite these challenges, the caretaker government’s focus remained on ensuring a fair and secure voting environment.
Regarding the transition of power to the new government, Solangi clarified the constitutional and legal procedures in place for such a process. He assured that once the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers of the newly elected government are sworn in, the caretaker government will dissolve, allowing for a smooth transition of power.
