Islamabad, Caretaker Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Jalil Abbas Jilani, has commended the Danish parliament for passing a bill that prohibits the desecration of the Holy Quran. In a social media post, he described the legislation as a wise decision and expressed hope that other European nations would enact similar laws.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the new Danish legislation imposes penalties of up to two years in prison for those found guilty of desecrating the Holy Quran. Jilani emphasized that disrespecting the holy books of any religion is contrary to the principles of all faiths, even under the pretext of freedom of speech. His statement reflects a broader perspective on the need for respect and tolerance across different cultures and religious beliefs.
