Cancer patient Zahoor Watali moves from jail to house arrest

New Delhi, February 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Delhi High Court on Thursday granted bail to Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Watali, who was arrested by the India’s National Investigation Agency in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in 2017 in a fake case. He is suffering from cancer and the court has allowed him treatment from his home. He was detained in Tihar jail, New Delhi.

The family had applied for his bail earlier but the court had rejected it. However, later the court sought suggestions from the doctors, apparently on basis of which he was permitted to move out of jail and get treated from home. He, however, will remain under house arrest, in judicial custody. Granting the concession, the court has prevented his meeting with any other person other than the family and his counsel.
