Canada Commits to Supporting Pakistan’s Socio-Economic Development

Islamabad, The Canadian government has pledged continued support for Pakistan’s socio-economic development, as conveyed by Canadian High Commissioner Leslie Scanlon during a meeting with Pakistan’s Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. The discussions focused on Pakistan’s recent economic reforms, including its successful completion of a Stand-By Arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and ongoing privatization initiatives.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Aurangzeb detailed the government’s key reform areas, which include improving the Tax-to-GDP ratio, digitalizing services, and administrative reforms aimed at attracting foreign investment. He also highlighted the positive response from investors towards the privatization of State-Owned Enterprises like Pakistan International Airlines and the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council in streamlining investment processes. High Commissioner Scanlon acknowledged these efforts and reiterated Canada’s commitment to assisting Pakistan in its development objectives.
