Call for Global Attention to Kashmiris’ Suffering under Indian Occupation

Islamabad, Despite Pakistan’s active role in global peacekeeping efforts, the plight of the people in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir remains dire under the ongoing brutalities of Indian forces.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the contrast between Pakistan’s contribution to international peace and the continuing oppression in Kashmir highlights the unresolved struggle for peace in the region. Pakistan has been a major participant in UN peacekeeping missions, with over 200,000 of its troops serving in 60 different missions across 28 countries. Currently, over 7,000 Pakistani personnel are deployed in 14 ongoing UN missions, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to global peace efforts.

As the International Day of UN Peacekeepers is observed, the contribution of Pakistani peacekeepers, including the noteworthy participation of Pakistani women meeting the UN’s gender goals, is recognized globally. However, the enduring suffering of Kashmiris under Indian rule calls for significant international intervention to uphold human rights and resolve the conflict.
