Islamabad: The Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Business, led by Federal Minister for Law & Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, convened to review significant legal and regulatory amendments proposed by various ministries and divisions.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting resulted in the approval of the draft OGRA Fees and Charges Rules, which aim to update the fee and charges framework for regulatory and licensing services by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority. Additionally, conditional approval was granted for amendments to the Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act, 1997, contingent upon the incorporation of the Committee’s suggestions.

The Committee also endorsed an amendment to the Pakistan Coast Guards Act, 1973, to establish a formal legal framework for the Regimental Fund’s administration. Furthermore, an amendment to the Drugs (Research) Rules, 1978, was approved to enhance research and laboratory facilities via the Central Research Fund. However, proposed changes to the FIA Act, 1974, and the Immigration Rules, 1979, were postponed, and the Draft PEMRA Rules, 2025, were withdrawn from consideration.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the relevant ministries, divisions, and government departments.
