Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises Deliberates on Strategic Decisions


Islamabad, Chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the latest session of the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs) addressed significant policy decisions regarding the management of state entities. The committee convened to evaluate and approve the nomination of independent directors for electricity distribution companies, reflecting a move towards improved governance and operational efficiency.



According to Press Information Department, the committee discussed various proposals, including those from the Ministry of Railways, which sought to classify four railway companies as strategic. However, this was deferred pending a comprehensive transformation plan. Additionally, the Ministry of Science and Technology was directed to submit a detailed business plan for STEDEC reforms. In contrast, the strategic importance of the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) and Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) was affirmed, with instructions for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to devise a viable business strategy for these entities.
