Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises Affirms Strategic Nature of PTV and PBC

Islamabad, The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises has officially recognized the strategic nature of Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) and Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), endorsing a proposal from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the approval was granted during a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. The committee has directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to develop and present a comprehensive business plan aimed at enhancing the management efficiency of these entities.

Additionally, the committee considered a proposal from the Power Division to nominate independent directors for various electricity distribution companies, approving its submission to the cabinet for further action. Conversely, a proposal from the Ministry of Railways seeking strategic recognition for four railway companies was not approved, with the committee requesting a detailed transformation plan instead.

The Ministry of Science and Technology was also instructed to provide a business plan regarding its planned reforms before any further decisions are made. The meeting saw participation from various ministers and senior officials, reflecting the high level of governmental oversight involved in the management of state-owned enterprises.
