Islamabad: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan presided over a strategic meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Sector Imports from Gwadar Port, focusing on enhancing import operations through the pivotal port. The session marked significant discussions on increasing the efficiency and scope of public sector imports, with plans to broaden stakeholder engagement in future meetings.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting was attended by key figures including Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Qasir Ahmed Shaikh and senior officials from various critical departments such as Commerce, Petroleum, Maritime, and Finance. The committee, established by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aims to improve the operational dynamics of Gwadar Port, which is crucial for the economic infrastructure of the country.
The discussions highlighted the committee’s decision to invite representatives from the private sector, notably the Shipping Associations, to participate in the next meeting. This move is intended to integrate broader perspectives and expertise to bolster the import strategy through Gwadar Port.
