Cabinet Committee Mobilized to Ensure Security for Muharram in DG Khan

DG Khan: Following directives from the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order has actively reviewed security preparations for the upcoming Muharram processions and assemblies in the DG Khan division.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 09 July 2024, the meeting was chaired by Provincial Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee Khawaja Salman Rafique. Key participants included Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rahman, Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Special Secretary Home Fazlur Rehman, and Additional IGs from Special Branch and CTD. The Additional IG South Punjab, the Commissioner, and the RPO DG Khan provided detailed briefings on the security measures in place.

Comprehensive security arrangements have been finalized for all 1,359 processions and 4,649 Majlis in the division. The committee has also approved the monitoring of 159 scholars and zakireen, with specific directives issued for 82 individuals. The discussions underscored the importance of adhering to SOPs issued by the Home Department and the proactive engagement of Peace Committees across Punjab to ensure the period is observed with religious devotion, respect, and peace.

The Cabinet Committee plans to visit other divisional headquarters across Punjab to oversee similar arrangements, ensuring a unified approach to security during Muharram. The Central Control Room established in the Punjab Home Department is coordinating these efforts, receiving and processing reports from across the province.
