Cabinet Committee Greenlights Re-merger of Pakistani Security Printing Entities

Islamabad: The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises has endorsed the reintegration of the National Security Printing Company with the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation, aiming to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the decision was made during a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad. The committee instructed the Ministry of Finance and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to finalize the necessary formalities and develop an implementation plan for the merger.

During the session, the committee also reviewed and categorized various State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) based on their strategic importance and necessity. It was determined that the National Bank of Pakistan, being part of the Sovereign Welfare Fund, would be exempt from the SOE Act 2003 and would not require categorization. Conversely, the EXIM Bank was designated as an Essential SOE, highlighting its critical role in the nation’s economic framework.
