Islamabad, The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises, led by the Caretaker Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, approved a revised policy for the management and ownership of state-owned enterprises (SOEs). This policy revision aligns with the broader objectives of enhancing governance and operations as outlined in the State-Owned Enterprises (Governance and Operations) Act, 2023.

According to Press Information Department (PID), the meeting, attended by committee members, the Chairman of SECP, and senior officers from relevant ministries, reviewed the State-Owned Enterprises (Ownership and Management) Policy, 2023. The policy was re-submitted for review after incorporating feedback from committee members.

The committee’s approval of the revised policy is a significant move towards improving the management and efficiency of SOEs in Pakistan. The policy aims to address governance issues and align the operations of these enterprises with modern management practices and legislative standards, as stipulated in the recently enacted State-Owned Enterprises (Governance and Operations) Act. This development is expected to contribute positively to the performance and accountability of SOEs, which play a vital role in Pakistan’s economy.
