Kolkata: A tragic incident unfolded at the Jalghar Border Outpost (BOP) in Balurghat Block, South Dinajpur, West Bengal, where a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier took his own life during duty hours. The soldier, identified as 33-year-old Narendra Singh, used his service revolver in the act.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Narendra Singh was a member of the 164th Battalion of the BSF. He hailed from Kilpur in Uttar Pradesh. The circumstances leading to the incident during his deployment at the border outpost remain unclear.
After the incident, Singh was urgently transported to District Hospital, Balurghat, where he was pronounced dead by the medical staff. The BSF and local authorities are likely to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the factors contributing to the soldier’s drastic decision to end his life.
