British Herald exposes facade of India’s so-called democratic values

London, July 14, 2023 (PPI-OT): British Herald, a renowned British magazine, has exposed the facade of India’s so-called democratic values.

The British Herald in its July issue has questioned the Modi government for grave human rights violations, religious discrimination, racial prejudice and declining journalistic standards. Despite allegations of sexual exploitation by women wrestlers against Bhushan Sharan Singh, the President of Indian Wrestling in January 2023, Modi avoided taking any action, as reported by the British Herald. It said, the main reason for Narendra Modi’s criminal silence on the growing incidents of violence against minorities is the appeasement of the extremist majority.

The ongoing civil war in Manipur has resulted in over 250 church burnings and the deaths of 115 individuals, while more than 4,000 locals have been displaced, according to the British Herald. It said, the silence of the Modi regime and the acceptance of the BJP in the face of ongoing racial atrocities in Manipur serve their political motives of securing majority approval in the state.

India has remained at the top of the list of internet shutdowns worldwide for the past four years. The suspension of communication channels in India has also extended to Ukraine, surpassing other countries, as reported by the British Herald. It is worth mentioning here that the Modi government had faced criticism from the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, for the suspension of Twitter accounts, income tax raids on offices, and threats of search operations in the homes of employees. By crossing all limits of cowardice, the Modi government resorted to raiding BBC offices and harassing employees for publishing a documentary critical of Modi and his government.
