Lahore, December 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Boxer Amir Khan met Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, former federal minister Moonis Elahi and Hussain Elahi MNA at the Chief Minister’s Office. The CM announced to set up a boxing arena and gym in Punjab and termed Amir Khan as the pride of Pakistan who is bringing laurels home. It is important to pay attention to every sport, not just cricket; he maintained and added that the government would provide all possible facilities for the promotion of boxing in Punjab.

A sports endowment fund of two billion rupees will be set up to give scholarships to players. International coaches will be invited to train local players, he said. Talented players will be provided ample opportunities to advance their skills and players in remote areas will also be trained, coached and assisted; he said and directed the Secretary Sports to take steps for the establishment of the boxing ring.

Amir Khan said that Chief Minister Parvez Elahi’s interest in sports, especially boxing, is commendable. Punjab has great boxing talent, he added. Ashfaq Farooq, Provincial Advisor Aamir Saeed Raan, Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Khan Bhatti, secretary sports, DG Sports and others were also present.
