Bomb Hoax Disrupts Republic Day in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar: A bomb threat during India’s Republic Day celebrations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir led to a significant search operation, disrupting the event’s proceedings.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the threat was sent via email to official government accounts by an individual using the alias “Dise Lish.” This prompted immediate security actions, including a comprehensive sweep of the primary event venue, which was scheduled to host Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Bomb disposal units and security forces confirmed the threat to be a hoax, as no explosives were found.

The false alarm delayed the celebrations and highlighted the ongoing challenge India faces with hoax threats. The incident occurred as the nation marked its 76th Republic Day, casting a shadow over the official proceedings in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Despite the initial disruption, the celebrations continued under heightened security protocols, illustrating the continued resilience in the face of such challenges.
