Jammu, Authorities in Rajouri district, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), have recovered the body of Mohammad Mushtaq, a civilian who had been missing for several weeks. This discovery adds to the growing concerns over human rights practices in the region amid reports of other recent custodial deaths.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mushtaq’s body was located in the Sangpura area’s river, marking a tragic end to the search that lasted three weeks. The police have taken custody of the body to complete necessary legal and medical procedures, while an inquest has been launched to investigate the circumstances of his disappearance and death.
The report also references a related grim context in which three young individuals, previously detained by Indian military forces in the same district, met with fatal outcomes while in custody. These incidents have intensified scrutiny over the conduct of Indian security forces in IIOJK, underscoring allegations of systemic human rights abuses and extrajudicial actions in the region.
