Bodies of 64 Victims from Manipur Violence Handed Over to Families

Imphal, In a significant development following the ethnic clashes in Manipur that erupted in May, the bodies of 64 victims were finally handed over to their respective families. This comes after a prolonged period during which the bodies remained in morgues amidst ongoing tensions in the state.

According to Kashmir Media Service, officials have stated that the bodies of 60 members of the Kuki community, which had been kept in various hospitals, were airlifted for the handover. Additionally, four bodies of Meiteis that were stored at a morgue in Churachandpur were also transported to Imphal and subsequently released to their families for last rites.

This gesture marks a step towards closure for the families of the victims who had been caught in the violence that had gripped Manipur earlier this year. The return of the bodies allows the families to conduct the necessary funeral rites and begin the process of healing from the tragic events.
