Blast Rocks Police Post Amid Rising Khalistan Support

Amritsar: An explosion occurred near the Azimgarh naka of the Mahmoodpur police post in Kaithal, situated on the Haryana-Punjab border, early this morning. The incident comes amidst ongoing tensions as Sikhs advocate for a separate homeland under the banner of Khalistan.

Local authorities, in collaboration with their Punjab counterparts, have initiated an investigation into the explosion, according to Kashmir Media Service. Rajesh Kalia, Superintendent of Police in Kaithal, stated that police and forensic teams are working to identify the explosive materials used.

Fortunately, the explosion did not result in any fatalities or damage to property. “We discovered traces indicating a mid-air explosion,” said Kalia. “A case is being registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the BNS, and the Arms Act.”

Initially, the police suspected the incident to be a hoax grenade attack. This assumption was made following a viral message, prompting officials to quickly respond to the scene.

In an online post, Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) claimed responsibility for the attack, describing it as a “grenade attack” that occurred around 5 a.m. Authorities are investigating whether the viral message is part of a broader scheme aimed at disrupting regional peace.
